Sheikh Nawaf bin Jassim bin Jabor Al-Thani
Chairman of the Board of Directors
Sheikh Nawaf Bin Jassim Bin Jabor Al-Thani was appointed as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Katara Hospitality in December 2003, after a successful career at Qatar Airways.
A Qatari national born in Doha, and graduated from Qatar University with a bachelor degree in Commerce and Business Administration.
When Sheikh Nawaf took over Katara Hospitality, he grasped the company’s vast potential and its continuing influence and importance in presenting Qatar to the world. His vision was shaped by contemporary influences and called for a complete overhaul of goals through a combined approach of innovative design, unique locations and warm hospitality.
Under his guidance, Katara Hospitality not only achieved great stability before moving on to growth, but has surpassed all expectations. In his fourteen years as Chairman of the company, Katara Hospitality has emerged as one of the world’s largest and most profitable hospitality organisations.
Recently, Sheikh Nawaf has been appointed as a Member of the Board of Directors of AccorHotels. In addition, Sheikh Nawaf is Chairman of the Oman-based Al Hosn Investment Company S.A.O.C. and Chairman of the Jassim and Hamad bin Jassim Charitable Foundation.
Sheikh Nawaf also served as a member of the board of FRHI Holding Limited from 2012 until 2016 and was a Board Member in Qatari Diar Real Estate Company from 2004 until 2011. He also was the Chairman of Dhofar Tourism Company in Oman and a Board Member of GVE in France.
In his personal time, Sheikh Nawaf oversees charitable and community development projects, especially through the activities of the Sheikh Jassim Bin Jabor Charitable Foundation.
Sheikh Nasser bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani
Sheikh Nasser Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani has been a member of the Board of Directors since September 2011.
Holding a Bachelor degree in Finance and Economy from King Fahad University of Petroleum & Minerals in KSA, he started his career in investment banking, then explored the real estate field, currently being involved in setting up Aspire Katara Investments, an investment management company owned by government foundations to oversee their investments.
Hamad Abdulla Al-Mulla
Hamad Abdulla Al-Mulla has become the Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of Katara Hospitality in February 2011, having previously held the position of Chief Human Resources and Administration Officer since 2009.
Since completing his Hospitality Management & Tourism studies at the University of Salzburg in 1991, Hamad has amassed over 20 years’ experience in top management positions within various Katara Hospitality properties in Qatar including the Sheraton Gulf Hotel, currently known as the Doha Marriott Hotel and Merwebhotel Al Sadd Doha.
Hamad has a vision to drive Katara Hospitality steadily toward becoming one of the leading hospitality organisations in the world.
Hassan Al Thawadi
Hassan Al Thawadi has been a member of the Board of Directors since September 2011. He holds the position of Secretary General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, the organization responsible for coordinating amongst public and private Qatari entities to ensure that infrastructure and development projects are delivered in readiness for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
His appointment in March 2011 as Secretary General followed on from his role as Chief Executive Officer in Qatar’s 2022 Bid Committee, in which he worked closely with Bid Chairman, H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Thani, promoting Qatar’s ultimately successful attempt to bring the FIFA World Cup to the Middle East for the first time.
A lawyer by profession, Al Thawadi previously served as General Counsel for Qatar Investment Authority and Qatar Holding, entities founded by the State of Qatar in 2005 to strengthen the national economy by diversifying into new asset classes and growing Qatar’s long-term strategic investments.
In addition to his role with Katara Hospitality, Al Thawadi holds board positions at important national stakeholders concerned with the delivery of the 2022 FIFA World Cup including Qatar Rail (the owner and manager of Qatar’s rail network) and Qatari Diar (established in 2005 and entrusted to support Qatar’s growing economy through coordination of the country’s real estate development priorities).
He is also a board member of Hassad Food Company and the Qatari national committee for the International Chamber of Commerce.
Al Thawadi is a graduate in Law from the University of Sheffield and speaks four languages.
Yousef Mohamed Al Othman Fakhroo
Yousef Mohamed Al Othman has been a member of the Board of Directors of Katara Hospitality since 2006.
Starting his career at Qatar Petroleum, he has acquired a strong background in various industry sectors and business fields including Information Technology, Banking, Human Resources, Project Management, Event Management and Hospitality.
Currently, Yousef Mohamed Al Othman is the undersecretary of the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs, previously, he held the position of General Manager – Human Capital at Qatar National Bank. He also played a significant role in organising the Doha Asian Games 2006, being part of the Organising Committee as Deputy Director General, Operations.
He has also been a member of the Board of Directors in various governmental and semi-governmental organisations, having had a valuable business input and contributing to their overall success.
Yousef holds a degree in Computer Sciences from the University of Southern California.
