Katara Hospitality, the leading Qatari hotel owner, developer and operator, was announced the winner of the 2014 Hospitality Enterprise Agility Achiever award at the inaugural Qatar Enterprise Agility Awards: Entrepreneur of the Year.

Organised by Entrepreneur Middle East magazine in association with Barclays, the awards honoured key players across a number of Qatari sectors. Katara Hospitality was recognized for the strides it has taken to pioneer hospitality development in Qatar.

Qatar Chamber Vice Chairman, Muhammed Bin Ahmed Bin Towar Al Kuwari, presented the award at a formal, invite-only event to Salem Al Kubaisi, Chief Corporate Services Officer of Katara Hospitality.

Chief Executive Officer and Board Member of Katara Hospitality said: “We are honoured to be recognised for our accomplishments in the Qatari hospitality industry. This award is a testament to our commitment to developing a strong hotel infrastructure network in our homeland.

We are also representing our country internationally by investing in iconic properties in some of the world’s top tourist destinations.”

Katara Hospitality has been investing in and developing peerless hotels in the Qatari market for more than 40 years. One of Katara Hospitality’s current developments includes a hospitality icon in Lusail City, a flagship project that is of immense importance to the Qatari tourism sector.

Once complete, the spectacular Katara Towers, Lusail Marina District will hold 604 rooms with hotel accommodation in one five-star luxury hotel and one five-star ultra-luxury hotel, private offices and branded residential space. An architectural translation of Qatar’s country seal, the iconic project will be recognised throughout the world.

The company and its properties have won a number of other noteworthy awards along the way. Last year, Katara Hospitality was named the World’s Leading Hospitality Company at the 2013 World Travel Awards. This was followed by more recognition from the World Travel Awards when Katara Hospitality was named the Middle East’s Leading Hospitality Development Company.

Katara Hospitality’s properties have also received a run of prestigious accolades such as the Tourism for Italy award for the Excelsior Hotel Gallia, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Milan and the ULTRA Best Hotel in Asia award for Raffles Singapore.

Katara Hospitality owns, develops and operates iconic properties across Qatar and ten other countries. With 28 properties currently under development or under operation, Katara Hospitality is well on its way to cross its target of 30 properties by 2016.
