Sheraton Doha Resort & Convention Hotel Invites Guests for Sneak Peek

Katara Hospitality, the global hotel developer, owner and operator based in Qatar, and Starwood Hotels & Resorts will reopen the doors to the Sheraton Doha Resort & Convention Hotel following a nine-month renovation. Scheduled to officially re-open in December, the hotel will open its doors on November 16, offering guests a sneak peek into the restoration of Doha’s celebrated social icon.

 

The special sneak peek of Sheraton Doha will give local residents and guest’s access to the lobby and public areas, with the hotel team offering tours of all the renovated areas of the hotel, including guest rooms, the convention center, the recreation center and food and beverage outlets. And while the hotel will not be operational until its official re-opening in December, Sheraton Doha will open its all-day dining outlet, Al Hubara, and its lobby café, Atrium Lounge, during the sneak peek period. All bookings for guest rooms and other restaurants will open next month.

 

The Sheraton Doha has been a milestone in the history of Qatar and a popular landmark since the early 1980s. As a part of the sneak peak, Sheraton Doha is reaching out to local community and loyal guests to share their cherished memories and early pictures of the Sheraton Doha through social media platforms and the best contributions will be put on display in the hotel lobby, upon its official opening in December.

Restoring Doha’s Celebrated Social Icon:
An iconic landmark for over three decades in Doha, the Sheraton Doha has played a pivotal role in shaping the country’s hospitality landscape. Katara Hospitality has invested in bringing the hotel back to its former glory, featuring 1980’s architecture and design, while catering to the needs of the modern social traveller.

 

The Hotel is currently working its final stages of the extensive renovation, which includes the refurbishment of all 371 guest rooms and suites and the 35,000 square foot purpose-designed convention center and other meeting spaces. All public areas and recreation facilities have also been enhanced. The renovation upgrades the hotel with modern standards in operational, building management and technology systems, whilst retaining its iconic 80’s characteristics and heritage.

 

Sheraton Doha will continue to house nine food and beverage outlets in total including: popular South American eatery, Latino Steakhouse; Al Shaheen Lebanese Restaurant; and the Irish Harp.

 

Katara Hospitality has partnered up with The Private Engineering Office (PEO) on the restoration of Sheraton Doha Resort & Convention Hotel. PEO is a government agency of the State of Qatar and is mandated to provide development, project management and property management services for properties that are of interest to His Highness the Emir, both locally and internationally with emphasis on balancing modern engineering with preservation of the country’s heritage.

 

Katara Hospitality owns, develops and operates iconic properties across Qatar and eleven other countries. The group has 29 properties currently under development or under operation and is well on its way to cross its target of owning 30 properties by 2016.
