The official World Tourism Day (WTD) celebrations will be held in Doha this September with the support of Katara Hospitality as Hospitality Partner, organisers Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) announced today.
Held under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, the event is expected to gather several hundred tourism industry stakeholders from around the world at the Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel to explore tourism’s role in sustainable development.

Sheraton Grand Doha Resort & Convention Hotel known as the ‘Pyramid of the Gulf’ will be the host hotel for World Tourism Day. WTD is the official day set aside in the United Nations’ calendar to highlight tourism’s contribution to some of the most pressing challenges society is faced with today. This year, the celebrations will be held under the theme ‘Sustainable Tourism – A Tool for Development’. This year’s celebrations will be the platform for the launch of the Next Chapter of the Qatar National Tourism Sector Strategy 2030.
